Sleep Testing

Sleep Well Clinic offers home-based sleep testing, for obstructive sleep apnoea, insomnia, circadian problems, shift-work, and stress. All our tests are analysed by people, not by algorithms. Our Senior Physiologist, Dr Bryn Sparks, was a pioneer in the development of assessment protocols that allowed home sleep testing to become a standard practice.

We perform different levels of sleep test for sleep apnoea, snoring, and CAA and occupational/workplace assessments. We also have other tests for measuring physiological stress levels over a 24 hour period. We have developed advanced analysis of heart rate variability data from our preferred wearable sleep tracker, the Ōura ring.

Treatment

The Sleep Well Clinic offers a range of treatments for sleep disorders, ensuring comprehensive care for patients with conditions such as snoring, sleep apnoea, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and other sleep-related problems. Our therapies are designed to address these conditions effectively and improve overall sleep quality. All our therapy is backed up with on-going assistance from our Clinical Support Team.

For snoring and sleep apnea, the clinic provides Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, which is widely recognized for its effectiveness. CPAP therapy involves wearing a mask over the nose connected to a small bedside fan that delivers slightly pressurized air to keep the airway open, thereby eliminating snoring and treating obstructive sleep apnoea.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) is a highly effective treatment option offered at the clinic. CBT-i is a non-pharmacological therapy that focuses on identifying and modifying the sleep-disruptive thoughts and behaviors that contribute to insomnia. It is considered a first-line treatment for insomnia and is effective in improving sleep quality and duration, as well as reducing associated daytime impairments.

For circadian rhythm disorders, the clinic provides light therapy and chronophysiology treatment programs. These treatments aim to promote circadian amplification and/or realignment, helping to synchronize the body's internal clock with the natural light-dark cycle, which is essential for healthy sleep patterns.

Sleep Well Clinic's approach to treating sleep disorders is comprehensive and patient-centric, focusing on individualized care and the latest evidence-based treatments to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients suffering from a range of sleep-related issues.

For most patients and clients, we arrange appropriate and tailored sleep testing in your own home, and then offer a consultation to bring together your history and background with the information provided by the sleep test.

Face-to-face medical consultations can be offered by appointment in Whangārei, Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wānaka.

We also offer phone, or ZOOM telemedicine options for those living outside those centres, or unable to attend a consultation at the available times.

Customer service

The doctors and clinical support team are only part of the story. Patients need to be triaged when they first contact us, appointments need to be arranged, sleep monitors need to be sent out and retrieved, and correspondence with family doctors, other specialists, and regulatory organisations needs to be prepared, checked, and sent.

Our customer services team have years of experience working specifically in sleep clinics and they also each bring a diverse background of professional experience and skills.
